1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Remove a steering wheel (see the Section Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
3. Remove from the top part of a steering column the combined understeering switches (see the Head Onboard electric equipment).

4. Disconnect an electrical wiring from contacts of a horn on the holder of understeering switches.

5. Having accurately hooked, remove facing of the lock of ignition/blocking of a wheel from the dashboard.

6. At the corresponding complete set unbend a carpet back, then give the screw and a nut of fastening of a finishing casing of the basis of a steering column for the purpose of ensuring access to the lower cardan hinge of an intermediate shaft.

7. Mark with paint or a marker position of the lower cardan hinge of an intermediate shaft of rather driving gear wheel of a steering rack, then turn out a coupling bolt of hinged assembly.

8. Turn out the top bolts of fastening of a column...

... try to remember adjusting provisions of remote washers and rubber pillows. Remove a fixing collar.

9. Turn out the lower fixing bolts, remove remote washers and rubber pillows, then slightly lower a column for the purpose of ensuring access to the ignition lock. Remembering an order of connection of sockets, disconnect a lock electrical wiring...

... on the models equipped with an immobilizator accurately release a sensor ring from a casing of the lock and take him aside from a steering column.

10. Separate an intermediate shaft from a driving gear wheel of a steering rack and remove assembly of a steering column from the car.

11. Check a condition of support of a column, in case of identification of signs of wear or deformations make necessary replacements. Estimate density of landing of a steering shaft in column plugs. Check a condition of cardan hinges and serviceability of functioning of bearings of crosspieces. In case of detection of defects of plugs of a shaft or cardan hinges it is necessary to make recovery repair of a column (see the Section Capital repairs of a steering column).

1. Having achieved combination of the landing tags put in the course of dismantle, enter an intermediate shaft into gearing with teeths of a driving gear wheel of the rack mechanism.
2. Being verified with the marking put in the course of dismantle, connect an electrical wiring to the ignition lock. At the corresponding complete set latch into place an immobilizator sensor ring.

3. Having tracked correctness of installation of remote washers and rubber pillows, put a steering column on the lower support. Screw the lower fixing bolts, then establish a collar of the top support (again track correctness of assembly of components) and attract it bolts. Make sure of correctness of provision of a column, then tighten all fixture with the required effort.

4. Establish into place a coupling bolt of the lower cardan hinge of an intermediate shaft and tighten with the required effort. At the corresponding complete set establish a finishing casing of the basis of a column, having strongly tightened fixing the screw with a nut.
5. Further assembly is made as it should be, the return to a dismantle order. Pay attention to the next moments:

a) Track correctness of laying of an electrical wiring and reliability of fastening of plaits in all provided intermediate clamps;
b) The order of installation of a steering wheel is stated in the Section Removal and installation of a steering wheel;
c) Before installation of the lower casing of a column make sure available a small gap between a steering wheel and the top casing. In case of need modify gap size, having weakened a collar of the holder of understeering switches.
