Replacement of blocks of disk brake mechanisms of forward wheels

Remember that brake shoes are subject to replacement only in a set and at the same time on both wheels of one bridge - carrying out replacement only on one of brake mechanisms is fraught with violation of uniformity of the grabbing effort and loss of course stability of the car during braking.

Do not forget that the dust produced in the course of wear of frictional material of blocks may contain noxious to health asbestos - at all do not blow off it compressed air and do not inhale. At service of brake mechanisms it is necessary to put on a protective mask or a respirator. Do not use for washing off of brake dust solvents on an oil basis - wipe components of brake mechanisms only with methyl alcohol or a special cleaner.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Prop up wedges back wheels of the car, cock the parking brake, then a front of the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on props. Remove forward wheels.
2. Having pulled a support outside, drown in the piston in the cylinder.

3. Turn out a bolt of the lower directing support finger. In the course of weakening of a bolt hold a finger from a provorachivaniye Rozhkov a key.

4. Having turned a support up, remove it from blocks and an anchor bracket of the brake mechanism and tie up a wire to suspension bracket elements.

Do not allow an excessive tension of a flexible brake hose at all.

5. Take two blocks from an anchor bracket of the brake mechanism.

6. Measure the residual thickness of a frictional overlay of each of blocks. If any of blocks in any point it is worn-out stronger than an admissible limit, all four blocks (from both brake mechanisms of this axis of the car) are subject to replacement. Replacement of blocks should be made also in case of their oiling or a zasalivaniye. Previously it is necessary to reveal and remove the cause of hit of oil in the brake mechanism. In case of identification of signs of uneven wear of blocks it is necessary also to try to define and remove the cause of defect.

7. If the condition of blocks is recognized satisfactory, they should be cleaned carefully by means of a metal brush, paying special attention to quality of cleaning of back walls of metal substrates. Do not forget to clean the flutes done in a body of frictional slips completely having removed from them garbage and the got stuck small foreign objects. Having finished with blocks, smooth out the contact surfaces of their landing in a support and an anchor bracket.

8. Before installation of blocks check density of landing of the directing support fingers, then estimate a condition of protective covers of fingers. Remove dust and dirt from surfaces of a support and the piston. Estimate a piston boot condition. Check the piston for existence of traces of leaks, corrosion and mechanical damages. In case of detection of defects components are subject to replacement (see the Section Removal, capital repairs and installation of supports of brake mechanisms of forward wheels).

9. At installation new (and consequently, and thicker) blocks the piston of a support has to is drowned in the cylinder for the purpose of providing sufficient free space. Use a clamp, or suitable wooden whetstone (as the lever). If GTTs was not crowded, push-up of the piston should not lead to an overflowing of brake fluid too much the tank, however this moment should be checked. On reaching mark MOVE liquid level its surplus has to be pumped out from the GTTs tank, or is released on a hose via the pumping gate.

In order to avoid poisoning do not suck away brake fluid from the cylinder a mouth at all - use the syringe or a rubber pear!

10. Remove all traces of old sealant from rounds of a carving of a bolt and the directing finger. In case of detection of defects of a carving the bolt is subject to replacement.
11. Establish blocks in an anchor bracket of the brake mechanism (frictional slips to a disk).
12. Lower a support, having tracked correctness of placement in it antivizgovy springs.

13. Slightly grease a carving of a bolt of the directing finger with sealant like Loctite 243.

14. Having pressed a support down, screw a bolt and tighten it with the required effort (a finger hold from a provorachivaniye Rozhkov a key).

15. Several times squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake for the purpose of restoration of pressure in hydraulic system.
16. Repeat the described procedure for a support of the brake mechanism of an opposite wheel.
17. Establish to the place of a wheel, lower the car on the earth and tighten bolts of fastening of wheels with the required effort.
18. Check the level of hydraulic liquid.

Full efficiency of braking is reached only after final extra earnings of new brake shoes. Avoid sharp braking on the first hundreds run kilometers after replacement of components of brake mechanisms.
