Removal and installation of a belt of the GRM drive and its covers

General information

The main function of a gear belt is the camshaft drive from cranked. In parallel the belt is used also for the TNVD drive and an intermediate shaft of the engine. Slipping or break of a gas-distributing belt at the working engine can lead to serious internal damages of a head of cylinders as a result of contact of valves with the bottoms of pistons.

In view of told, extreme importance is gained by a regularity of performance of checks of correctness of adjustment of effort of a tension of a belt and its general state. Performance of these checks becomes possible only after dismantle of covers of a belt.

Removal of back (internal) section of a cover of a gas-distributing belt is included in structure of the procedure of replacement of an epiploon of the camshaft (see the Section Replacement of an Epiploon of the Camshaft).

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before starting implementation of the procedure it is necessary to make an immobilization of the engine and car:

a) Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
b) Prop up wedges back wheels of the car and cock the parking brake. Transfer a control lever of RKPP to neutral situation.
2. For the purpose of ensuring the best access to external covers remove the air cleaner from a mudguard, and also disconnect air from a cover of the inlet pipeline (see the Head the Power supply system).
3. Hang out the engine by means of the winch, or having propped up it a hydraulic jack (for the purpose of distribution of loading, between a head of a jack and the pallet of a case it is necessary to lay wooden whetstone).
4. In stages release and turn out fixing bolts and remove from the car the right and back support of the power unit (see the Section of the Support of the power unit - check and replacement). Otboltite also lower part of the right support from a head of cylinders.
5. Bring the engine into the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder (see the Section Reduction of the Piston of the First Cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (TDP) of the end of a step of compression).
6. Take off a belt of the drive of auxiliary units (see the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units).
7. Slightly lower the engine, having provided free space for removal of pulleys of an auxiliary driving belt.
8. Turn out fixing bolts and remove pulleys of the water pump and a bent shaft from the engine.

For a guarantee of reliable blocking of a pulley in the course of an otdavaniye of bolts of its fastening include the highest transfer (do not forget to switch to a neutral after removal of a pulley again) and ask the assistant to squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake firmly. It is possible to use also rubber cord / an old driving belt, having densely wrapped up it around a pulley.

9. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a roller of a natyazhitel of an auxiliary driving belt (the bolt has the left carving!). Shoot a video.
10. Release metal wire clamps.

also turn out a bolt of fastening of the top cover of a gas-distributing belt.

11. Release from a clamp on a cover fuel tubes and take them aside. Remove the top cover of a belt from the engine.

12. Turn out bolts, release clamps and remove the lower cover of a belt.
13. Check reliability of landing of a blocking pin of a cogwheel of TNVD (see the Section Reduction of the Piston of the First Cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (TDP) of the end of a step of compression), then weaken half way three external bolts of a wheel.

Do not release the central nut of a wheel as it will lead to violation of the TNVD basic installations.

14. Weaken a tension of a gas-distributing belt, having slightly released for this purpose a fixing nut of a natyazhitel.
15. Check a belt for existence of factory direction signs of rotation. In case of need put the corresponding marking independently (if of course the belt is in satisfactory condition and is subject to further use).
16. Trying not to bend and not to overwind excessively, take off a belt from cogwheels.
17. Check a belt for existence of traces of pollution by cooling liquid or oil. In case of detection of those, try to reveal immediately a source of leak and to remove its cause. Special attention should be paid to a condition of the leading edges of teeths of the working party of a belt. The worn-out, polluted or defective belt is subject to replacement.

Through each 50 000 km (30 000 miles) of a run the belt should be changed regardless of its state.

18. If the belt at once back is not established, on the engine it is necessary to hang the precautionary plate on purpose not to allow a casual provorachivaniye of its shaft. For a guarantee it is possible to seal up just in case the ignition lock.

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the bent shaft is in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder (see the Section Reduction of the Piston of the First Cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (TDP) of the end of a step of compression).

2. Half way release a camshaft cogwheel bolt. Carefully tapping on the drift passed throughout specially provided opening in an internal cover of a belt weaken landing of a wheel on a conical support of the camshaft.

3. Observing the direction of rotation demanded according to marking, freely throw a gas-distributing belt through a cogwheel of a bent shaft.
4. Enter a belt into gearing with teeths of a wheel of a bent shaft, then throw with it cogwheels of the camshaft and TNVD. Make sure of correctness of landing of a belt on cogwheels.

It is not excluded that for achievement of adequacy of landing of a belt it is necessary to correct slightly the provision of cogwheels of the camshaft and TNVD.

5. Without allowing twisting, get a belt the smooth party under rollers of an intermediate shaft and a natyazhitel.
6. Track that a forward part of a belt was hardly tense, and all weak point fell on the site got under a roller of a natyazhitel.

7. Pull a belt, rotating clockwise the natyazhitel equipped with an eccentric support - two openings into which the ends of flat-nose pliers for removal/installation of lock rings representing an excellent equivalent of the special branded Skoda tool can be inserted are provided in a nave of a natyazhitel especially for this purpose.

... continue to rotate a natyazhitel until landing tags in a look risks and a ledge are combined among themselves. Having finished adjustment, tighten a lock-nut with the required effort.

8. Now once again make sure that the bent shaft still is in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder (see the Section Reduction of the Piston of the First Cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (TDP) of the end of a step of compression).
9. Tighten a camshaft cogwheel bolt with the required effort (see the Section Removal and installation of a natyazhitel and cogwheels of a belt of the GRM drive).
10. Tighten three external bolts of a cogwheel of TNVD, then take a blocking pin.
11. Remove the camshaft lock (see the Section Reduction of the Piston of the First Cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (TDP) of the end of a step of compression).
12. By means of a face key turn a bent shaft on two whole revolutions for a cogwheel bolt, again having stopped it in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder. Make sure of a possibility of introduction of a blocking pin to TNVD cogwheel (see the Section Reduction of the Piston of the First Cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (TDP) of the end of a step of compression). Make sure of correctness of a tension of a gas-distributing belt, in case of need repeat adjustment.
13. Check serviceability of functioning of a natyazhitel (see the Section Removal and installation of a natyazhitel and cogwheels of a belt of the GRM drive).
14. Establish into place the lower and top sections of an external cover of a gas-distributing belt. Latch clamps and strongly tighten fixing bolts.
15. Establish into place a roller of a natyazhitel of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units and tighten a bolt of its fastening (with the left carving!) with the required effort.
16. Establish a pulley of the water pump, tighten fixing bolts with the required effort.
17. Establish a pulley of an auxiliary belt on a cogwheel of a bent shaft, then, working as well as at removal, tighten bolts of its fastening with the required effort.

The asymmetrical arrangement of fixing openings provides unambiguity of installation of a pulley.

18. Establish into place a belt of the drive of auxiliary units and adjust effort of its tension (see the Section Removal, installation and adjustment of a tension of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units).
19. Raise the engine, having provided a possibility of connection of the right and back support of a suspension bracket of the power unit.
20. Establish to the place of a support and tighten bolts of their fastening with the required effort. In conclusion disconnect a lifting rigging / remove a jack from under the engine.
21. Connect an air inlet sleeve to a cover of the inlet pipeline and a mudguard of an arch of a wheel.
22. Connect a negative wire to the battery.
23. In conclusion check correctness of the TNVD basic installations (see the Head the Power supply system).
