Removal, check of a state and installation of a flywheel

General information

The flywheel is cast from cast iron and provides uniformity of operation of the engine. Besides, the flywheel serves as a coupling support. On perimeter of the forming surface of a flywheel the gear wreath with which into gearing the driving gear wheel of a starter at start of the engine is entered is established.

The gear wreath is made of steel and tempered by current of high frequency. The wreath napressovyvatsya on a flywheel body after a preliminary warming up up to the temperature of 180 ÷ of 200 °C.

The frictional surface of a flywheel interfaced to a clutch plate is subjected to very careful machining.

The flywheel fastens to a flange of a bent shaft by means of four bolts of M10x1 which kontritsya by a special washer, the general for all four bolts.

All flywheels are balanced statically (the admissible imbalance leaves no more than 0.1 Nanometers). After landing to a bent shaft dynamic balancing of a flywheel assembled is made.

During operation of the car the back surface of a flywheel interacting with a clutch plate and also its gear wreath is exposed to wear. Repair of a back surface of a flywheel consists in its regrinding on the special grinder with observance of necessary admissions. As for a wreath, at identification of signs of considerable wear of teeths or their damage, it is subject to replacement.

The worn-out wreath is removed from a flywheel by means of a press. Alternatively, in the basis of a wreath one or several openings with a diameter of 12 ÷ of 13 mm are bored through so that the wreath burst. Try not to damage actually a flywheel.

The new wreath before installation should be warmed in the electric furnace up to the temperature of 180 ÷ of 200 °C. the hot wreath keeps within on a flat surface, then in it the flywheel which is previously best of all for cooling is pressed.

At removal of a flywheel from a bent shaft it is necessary to remember, it is subjected to dynamic balancing, and therefore has to be established at assembly strictly in former situation - put landing tags.

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove RKPP (see the Head the Transmission) and coupling assembly (see the Head Stsepleniye).

2. By means of the clamp made of a thick metal plate jam a gear wreath of a flywheel, having blocked the last from a provorachivaniye in the course of an otdavaniye of bolts of its fastening. Alternatively the flywheel can be blocked by means of a metal plate, pribolchenny between it and the block of cylinders.

3. Turn out bolts of fastening of a flywheel. At assembly they are subject to replacement without fail.

4. Mark the provision of a flywheel in relation to an end face of a pin of a bent shaft in order to avoid violation of balancing at assembly.

5. Carefully remove a heavy flywheel.

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check a condition of the flywheel surface interfaced to a clutch plate. In case of detection of deep scratches, cracks, zadir and other mechanical damages the flywheel is subject to replacement, or has to be sent to a pro-point (consult at specialists of car service).
2. Attentively examine a gear wreath of a flywheel. In case of wear or loss of teeths the wreath should be replaced in the conditions of a workshop of car service.
3. Having banished a tap carving openings in an end face of a pin of a bent shaft, remove from them the remains of the fixing sealant and corrosion products.

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Having carefully smoothed out the interfaced surfaces, establish a flywheel on a pin of a bent shaft according to the landing tags put in the course of dismantle.

The new flywheel can be established in any situation.

2. If new fixing bolts are not missed the mark by the fixing structure at manufacturer, slightly grease their carving part with suitable sealant. Screw bolts and tighten them, so far only by hand.
3. One of offered above ways block a flywheel from a provorachivaniye, then tighten fixing bolts with the required effort.
4. Establish to the place of assembly of coupling and RKPP (see Chapters Coupling and the Transmission).
