General information

The starter represents an electric motor of a direct current which via the reducing drive turns a bent shaft at engine launch.

Till July, 1995 all models were completed with a starter of Magneton with a power of 1 kW, since the marked moment on model of 1.3 l began to establish Magneton 0.8 starter differing in smaller mass-dimensional characteristics at the increased torque. Both starters have the identical landing sizes and fasten two bolts of M8.

The starter fastens to a coupling dome. The driving gear wheel of a starter is entered into gearing with a gear wreath of a flywheel by means of the traction relay.

The starter of the old Magneton 1.0 type consists of the case, forward and back covers, an anchor, the obgonny coupling and the traction relay. The case of a starter is fastened to forward and back covers two through bolts.

In the case steel cores on which excitement windings are reeled up are fixed. To provide a possibility of course of big starting currents, windings of excitement are executed from a copper tape.

The anchor consists of a shaft on which напрессован the core consisting of the separate magnetic plates isolated from each other. In plates there are cuts in the form of trenches. In trenches rotor windings are laid. Both ends of windings are brought to a collector.

The collector is located on one of the ends of a shaft of an anchor and consists of the copper plates which are also isolated from each other. The shaft of an anchor comes to an end with necks of bearings of sliding which plugs are put in the case and a back cover of assembly.

From the opposite side of a shaft spiral vents which assembly of the obgonny coupling with a driving gear wheel is put on are provided. At operation of the traction relay the gear wheel moves on shaft vents before its introduction to gearings with a gear wreath of a flywheel.

In a back cover of the case there are four brushes fixed in brush holders. Brushes nestle on a collector a spiral spring. On a cover by means of a bolt of M6 the tin protection cover protecting a collector and brushes from pollution is fixed.

The electromagnetic traction relay is built in in assembly of a forward cover of a starter and fixed in it by two bolts of M6x16. The relay performs two functions: sets in motion the lever of the mechanism of input of a gear wheel in gearing with a flywheel wreath, and also closes a giving chain

The traction relay consists of the case in which the winding is located. In a winding the mobile plunger made of material with high magnetic permeability is inserted. The plunger is connected to the starter drive lever. Return of a plunger to a starting position is made by means of a special spring. In an opening of a plunger the core with the copper mobile contact fixed on it closing the main contacts representing heads of two bolts which are directly connected to battery plugs is filled.

At turn of the ignition key in position II of the lock current from the battery begins to be passed through a winding of a contact core. The magnetic field which is formed at the same time involves a plunger in assembly of the relay. The movement from a plunger is transferred to the lever fixed on it which, in turn, shifts driving assembly on spiral vents of a shaft of an anchor of a starter towards a gear wreath of a flywheel.

At the time of short circuit of the main contacts on a winding of a starter current begins to proceed and the driving gear wheel entered into gearing with flywheel wreath teeths untwists a bent shaft of the engine. If teeths of a gear wheel and a wreath at a starting point were not hooked among themselves, then such gearing steadily will happen under the influence of developed by a spring (17) at the time of combination of teeths of a gear wheel with an interval between flywheel wreath teeths.

Thanks to the fact that at introduction of a gear wheel to gearing with a wreath it has also progress the initial breakthrough from blow of teeths is softened.

As soon as the engine is started and the frequency of rotation of a flywheel will begin to exceed turns of a driving gear wheel, the obgonny coupling will begin to be turned freely on an anchor shaft, protecting thereby a starter from destruction.

At an ignition key otpuskaniye magnetic field of the coil of a contact core disappears and the plunger of the traction relay comes back to a starting position under the influence of the effort developed by a spring. At the same time there is a disconnection of the main contacts and a starter is powered off. The driving lever also comes back to a starting position and the gear wheel leaves gearing with a gear wreath of a flywheel. Thanks to a spiralevidnost of a form of the directing pins on an anchor shaft, the flywheel which left gearing pushes away a gear wheel back. The driving lever at the same time slightly squeezes a spring (15) which presses assembly of an anchor to a brake washer (12).

The starter of the new Magneton 0.8 type is equipped with a planetary reducer. At inclusion the anchor of a starter begins to rotate with a frequency of 5000 rpm thanks to what rather big power develops. In a planetary reducer turns decrease with simultaneous increase in torque that guarantees trouble-free start of the cold engine even in frosty weather.

Removal and installation of starters of both types is made in a similar manner.



1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery - it is especially important as the starter food wire constantly is energized.

2. Remove a rubber protective cover and disconnect an electrical wiring from the back party of the traction relay. Try to remember an order of connection of wires.

3. Release a clamp, separate an electrical wiring of fires of a backing from the case of a starter and take it aside.

Perhaps, the electrical wiring of fires of a backing should be disconnected from the sensor switch to guarantee total absence of risk of damage it during dismantle of a starter.

4. Supporting a starter by a hand, give fastening nuts on a coupling dome.

5. Remove a starter.



Installation is made upside-down. Tighten all fixture with the required effort. Track correctness of laying and reliability of connection of an electrical wiring.
