The lubrication system - general information

Problem of the lubrication system is decrease in a component of friction between internal components of the engine, their protection from corrosion, and also branch from details of excess of heat. The scheme of the lubrication system is submitted on an accompanying illustration.

Circulation of oil in the engine happens as follows. The oil pump sucks in oil through a maslozabornik from the pallet of a crater and gives it via the special channel to a full-line oil filter. After filtering oil moves to the trunk oil main and arrives to a bent shaft and openings in the block in which camshaft necks rotate. On the channels provided in a body of a bent shaft, oil arrives to inserts of conrod bearings.

From the trunk oil main oil is brought also to the oil pressure sensor switch. Through openings in yokes oil is sprayed on cores of valves.

Through openings in the top part of the lower head of rods oil vypryskivatsya on the surface of cylinders. Supply of oil to a chain of the GRM drive is carried out through openings in a forward part of the block of cylinders.

The Maslozalivny mouth, covers of a head of cylinders is closed by the plastic stopper equipped with a rubber sealing ring.

The hose of system of ventilation of a case is connected to the union on a sidewall of a mouth.

The pallet of a case is stamped from a steel sheet. Between the pallet and the block of cylinders sealing laying is established.

Fastening of the pallet to the block is carried out by means of nineteen bolts of M6x20 which it is necessary to tighten with effort 7 ÷ 9 Nanometers in strictly certain order.

The drain stopper with a carving of M16x1.5 is provided in the lower point of the pallet. the stopper is equipped with an aluminum sealing washer of 16х22 in size.

The oil pump settles down in the lower part of a cover of a gas-distributing chain. The drive of the pump is carried out by the gear wheel fixed on an ignition distributor shaft. The pump sucks in oil through the maslozabornik equipped with the mesh filter from the crater pallet.

On an illustration components of the oil pump assembled are presented. The conducted gear wheel is put on the axis pressed in a cover of a gas-distributing chain. Through an opening in a cover the pump shaft is passed, from below on which the leading gear wheel is established. The groove intended for introduction of a shaft to gearing with an ignition distributor drive shaft is provided in the top part of a shaft.

The conducted and conducting gear wheels are entered into gearing with each other so that at rotation to carry out suction of oil and its forcing to the highway of the engine. Height of gear wheels of the oil pump makes 20 mm.

From below assembly of the pump is closed by the cover fixed by four bolts of M6x20 passed also through sealing laying.

Laying, except sealing of a joint, carries out also a role of the limiter of an axial side play of gear wheels. If when carrying out repair lack of factory laying is found, it can be made of standard sheet with a maximum thickness of 0.1 mm.

If gap size between a cover and end faces of gear wheels of a shaft lies within 0.045 ÷ 0.158 mm, laying can be not established at all.

Excessive growth of pressure in the engine is resisted by the reducing valve installed in a cover of the oil pump. The basic working element of the valve is the ball with a diameter of 12 mm. The ball nestles on the saddle a spring. The second end of a spring rests against the forelock. At excess by pressure of oil of value of 4 kgfs/cm 2, the spring contracts and the ball slightly departs from a saddle. Excess of oil at the same time merges back in the case pallet.

From the pump oil under a pressure comes to a full-line oil filter. Oil comes to the filter case through inlet openings, previously having wrung out the drainage valve. Having passed through the paper filtering element, oil through an inlet opening of the filter comes to galleries of the engine.

The drainage valve is manufactured of rubber or plastic and in addition interferes with return of oil to the pump. Thanks to such design of the filter, pressure in system rises right after start of the engine. At installation of the new filter on its filling with oil some time defining a delay of switching off of the corresponding control lamp on an instrument guard of the car is required.

The safety valve provides passing of oil bypassing the filtering element in case of violation of passability of the last, preventing thereby excessive increase in pressure. The valve works also at excessive increase in pressure when using the oils with the raised degree of viscosity used in winter season. In process of warming up of the engine and to decrease in viscosity of oil, the valve gradually comes back to a closed position. In general the filter is designed and manufactured so that to maintain pressure to 15 kgfs/cm 2.

In the case of the filter there is a filtering element made from in a special way the processed paper. Paper is put by an accordion and laid in the form of a star thanks to what in the case of rather small size it is possible to place the big filtering surface.

The place of a joint of the case of the filter with a landing surface on the block of cylinders is pressurized by means of the rubber or plastic sealing laying put in a special flute in the filter basis.

The oil pressure sensor switch by inclusion of a control lamp informs the driver on pressure drop of oil with the lubrication system below an admissible limit (0.3 ÷ 0.6 kgfs/cm 2).

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the engine case pallet (see the Section Removal and installation of the pallet of a case of the engine).

2. Give four bolts of fastening of the case of a maslozabornik with the mesh filter to the lower party of a cover of a chain of the GRM drive...

. and one bolt of its fastening to a cover of the central radical bearing. Carefully remove a maslozabornik.

3. Gear wheels can be taken removals of a cover of a maslozabornik at once. At the corresponding complete set remove sealing laying (at assembly it is subject to replacement without fail).

Check of a state

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check gear wheels and a pump housing for existence of signs of wear and mechanical damages (like chips of teeths).
2. In the presence of the necessary equipment by measurement of gaps estimate the size of wear of axes of gear wheels and a pump housing (see Specifications).
3. In case of identification of damages and also if the size of gaps exceeds the admissible values stipulated in Specifications, gear wheels of the pump are subject to replacement assembled with a forward cover of a chain of the GRM drive with the pump housing which is built in in it. Procedures of removal and installation of a cover of a chain are described in the Section Removal and installation of a head of cylinders assembled with the inlet pipeline and a final collector.

4. Temporarily establish gear wheels in a pump housing, then by means of the planeness measuring instrument (an edge of a steel ruler) and the probe of lezviyny type measure gap size between end faces of gear wheels and a cover of the pump. Manufacturers of the car (Skoda company) insist that the gap should not exceed 0.1 mm. If the size of a gap is close to extreme value, the case of a maslozabornik should be installed without laying. If the gap is too small, it can be modified by selection of laying of the corresponding thickness. Excess of admissible value is the testimony of wear of components (the case and/or gear wheels); in this case assembly of the pump is subject to replacement.

5. Take the forelock from the case of a maslozabornik,

. then also shake out a spring and a ball from a nest of the reducing valve. Check the removed valve components for existence of signs of wear and mechanical damages. Landing in a nest of the valve of a new ball is carried out by means of the hammer and a suitable drift from soft metal - try to achieve dense pressing of a ball to a valve saddle. Fill a spring in a nest and record assembly by the new forelock.

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Assembly is made upside-down. For temporary fixing of new laying on the interfaced surface of the case of a maslozabornik use jellied lubricant.
2. Having plentifully greased, fill gear wheels with the axes in a pump housing. Holding gear wheels, press the case of a maslozabornik to the interfaced surface, screw five fixing bolts and tighten them with the required effort.
3. Install into place the engine case pallet (see the Section Removal and installation of the pallet of a case of the engine).
