Instructions for use Head's material

This Part of the Head is devoted to the repair of the petrol engine of 1.3 l which is not connected with its extraction from the car (in situ).

The description of the most part of the considered procedures is made, proceeding from the assumption that the power unit remains on the regular place in a motive compartment of the car. In view of told in case the engine is already dismantled and installed on a workbench or the assembly stand, many of the described steps have to be lowered.

Let's notice that despite physical capacity of performance of repair of in situ of such components as conrod and piston groups, works of this sort are usually performed after dismantling of the engine in view of need of holding some auxiliary procedures, not to mention requirements to respect for purity of details and absolute passability of maslotok.

General description of the engine

The considered engine concerns to family of 4-cylinder petrol engines with line placement of cylinders and the top arrangement of valves (OHV). Cross and longitudinal cuts of the engine are presented on illustrations. The engine is installed cross in a forward part of the car and inclined forward at an angle 20 °. Assemblies of transmission and coupling are in the left part of the power unit.

Engines have two main modifications: with low extent of compression (type 135) and high extent of compression (type 136) which differ also with a design of pistons (on the bottoms of pistons of engines of the 135th type, unlike the 136th, selections are provided) and camshafts. For the rest engines are identical. Visually engines it is possible to distinguish one from another on color of an emblem with a logo of the Skoda company located on a forward wall of a head of cylinders. On engines of the 135th type the colourless emblem whereas on engines of 136 type the emblem is painted in yellow color is applied.

The block of cylinders, head and cover of a head are cast from aluminum alloy. The lower part of cylinders gilzutsya by inserts of iron casting. The bases of sleeves are equipped with sealing laying in order to avoid penetration of cooling liquid into the case pallet.

The bent shaft is installed in three radical bearings. A flywheel with assembly of coupling fasten to a flange at the left end face of a shaft. The forward end of a bent shaft is equipped with an asterisk for installation of a two-row chain of the drive of the camshaft. Radical and conrod bearings have a demountable design and are equipped with two inserts. In the top head of a rod the bronze plug deployed under landing of a piston finger is pressed.

The right end of the camshaft is equipped with a spiral gear wheel of the drive of the distributor of ignition. The drive of the oil pump is also made from the camshaft through a distributor axis.

The compulsory lubrication system of the engine is organized by means of the gear pump which is taking away oil from the case pallet through the maslozabornik equipped with the mesh filter and giving it to internal components of the engine previously banishing through the full-line oil filter of replaceable type established outside in a forward part of the block of cylinders.

In spite of the fact that the engine is not high-speed and does not differ in big power, it provides to the car quite decent dynamic characteristics.

Thanks to the fact that the engine is not overloaded, on condition of use high-quality oils and fuels it differs in the increased reliability and durability.

On an illustration curve capacities and torque, and also fuel consumption depending on the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the carburetor engine are presented.
