Start of the engine

General information

Before starting launch of the engine, switch RKPP control lever to neutral transfer and firmly cock the parking brake.

As soon as there is a start of the engine, at once release the ignition key in order to avoid damage of a driving gear wheel of a starter.

Warming up of the engine has to be made on the run. Right after start begin the movement.

Before warming up of the engine up to the normal working temperature, avoid increase in turns of a bent shaft (try not to squeeze out against the stop the accelerator pedal).

If the car is equipped with the catalytic converter, do not make start of its engine by pushing or towage - ignition of the crude fuel which got to the converter can lead to an exit of a working element out of operation. Before try "to light" from the auxiliary battery.

The petrol models equipped with system of injection of fuel

The system of injection of fuel provides giving in the engine of gas mixture of optimum structure. In view of told, the order of start of such engines is identical to any temperature of external air and does not depend on that, the engine at the time of start-up is heated-up, or not.

Before start and during it do not squeeze out an accelerator pedal. In case of failure wait about half-minute, then repeat attempt. Remark: It is not necessary to turn the engine a starter continuously more than 10 seconds in a row.

Carburetor models

Start of the cold engine

The engine is equipped with the automatic device providing enrichment of air-fuel mix during cold start. Activation of the automatic machine is made by slow single squeezing of a pedal of an accelerator against the stop.

In frosty weather (from - 25 °C) it is necessary to squeeze out a pedal three times.

The executed described manipulations with an accelerator pedal, release it and start start of the engine.

Before start and during it do not squeeze out an accelerator pedal. In case of failure wait about half-minute, then repeat attempt.

It is not necessary to turn the engine a starter continuously more than 10 seconds in a row.

Upon completion of attempt of start of the engine the ignition key should be returned every time in situation "0" in order to avoid an overheat of the starting automatic machine.

Start of the warm engine

Slowly squeezing out an accelerator pedal, make start, then release a pedal.

Start of the hot engine

Without swinging, squeeze out a pedal of an accelerator and hold it in the lower situation during the whole time of start. After completion of start release a pedal.

Diesel models

System of preheat

Diesel models are equipped with the device of automatic preheat which becomes effective after opening and the subsequent closing of any of forward doors. If start at the same time is not made, then repeated use of doors does not lead to initiation of system.

Start of the cold engine

Turn the ignition key in situation "I" - on an instrument guard the control lamp of system of preheat has to light up. On reaching the start temperature engine the lamp will go out.

For the purpose of minimization of loads of the battery, whenever possible try to avoid during preliminary warming up of the engine of use of other consumers of the electric power.

As soon as the control lamp goes out, it is necessary to start start of the engine. If at the time of start-up turns of the engine are not stable, take a key in turned a little longer, but no more than 30 seconds.

In case of failure repeat all described procedure. If the engine is not started also this time, it is necessary to check a condition of a safety lock of the device of preheat.

At start do not touch an accelerator pedal.

System of the warning of speeding

Inclusion of an alarm buzzer happens on reaching the speed of the movement of the car of value of 120 km/h.

Engine stop

At long use of the car with the raised load of the engine you suppress the last not right after the end of the movement, and before having allowed it to work on single turns within about 2 minutes - such precautionary measure will help to avoid risk of an overheat of the killed engine.

After an engine stop the fan of the cooling system can continue the functioning during even some time (up to 10 minutes). Later activation of the fan also perhaps, but only in the following cases:

As a result of accumulation of heat temperature of cooling liquid increased;

On the models equipped with the catalytic converter switching off of ignition it should not be made during the movement at all on transfer as at the same time not burned down fuel can get to a working element of the converter and give е to an exit it out of operation at ignition during restart of the engine.


General instructions

Speed of wear of components of brake mechanisms considerably depends on a driving manner. At operation of the car in an intense city cycle, or at a sports manner of driving check of thickness of brake shoes has to is made more often than it is stipulated by the Schedule of routine maintenance (see Chapter 1).

At the movement it is downhill expedient to make braking by the engine by preliminary transfer of RKPP to lower transfer. As a result it is possible to avoid an overload of brake mechanisms. If it is not possible to avoid use of brakes, it is necessary to make short pressing of a pedal, braking the car small breakthroughs.

After fording, driving through a deep pool, a sink, or at the movement under heavy rain efficiency of action of brakes can decrease a little, especially in the winter when frosting of frictional overlays of brake shoes takes place. In such circumstances brake mechanisms should be dried as soon as possible by a number of short braking.

The delay in operation of brakes can take place also in winter time in the cities when the paving falls down salt. In a special measure this effect is shown if the car long time was not used. And on blocks the crystal raid was formed. Blocks should try to be cleared.

In case of damage of a forward spoiler, and also at installation of a spoiler or decorative caps of rims it is necessary to track that air flow to brake mechanisms of forward wheels was not limited. Otherwise mechanisms can begin to overheat.

Additional devices

Pressure regulator in a hydraulic contour of brake mechanisms of back wheels

Cars with body type the Pickup, Venplus and Kombi, and also all models equipped with engines of 1.6 l of 1.9 l or the conditioner of air are without fail equipped with pressure regulator in a back contour of the hydraulic brake system. The regulator is the device reacting to extent of loading of the car. This remark does not belong to the models equipped with system of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS).

Vacuum amplifier of brakes

The vacuum amplifier of brakes functioning only at the working engine due to the depression created in the inlet pipeline is included in a basic equipment of all models. At towage of the car with the killed engine, or in case of refusal the amplifier it is necessary to squeeze out a brake pedal with a little big what usually by effort.

System of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS)

ABS considerably promotes increase in active traffic safety of the car. Decisive advantage of ABS in comparison with brake systems of usual type consists that even at full braking on a slippery covering the possibility of keeping of control over management remains.

If the radial speed of rotation any of wheels is excessively small in relation to the speed of the movement of the car and there is a risk of its blocking, the system makes pressure decrease in a hydraulic contour of the corresponding brake mechanism. Speed of rotation of a wheel at the same time increases, providing the general course stability of the car. The described cycle can be repeated a set of times a second that gives the maximum guarantee of preservation of control over management at any condition of a paving.

Functioning of ABS is followed by pulsations of a brake pedal, there can sometimes be a characteristic sound., warning the driver about approach of the moment of the beginning of blocking of wheels. In order that ABS could prevent successfully blocking the pedal of a brake has to remain squeezed out - at all do not try to make braking by faltering squeezings of a pedal!

Existence on the ABS car does not cancel operation of physical laws at all. It is necessary to remember it at the movement on a slippery paving. As soon as ABS begins to function, it is necessary to take care of reduction in the rate of the movement to the safe value corresponding to a condition of the road.
At violations of functioning of ABS on an instrument guard the corresponding control lamp joins.

At ABS refusal the brake system continues to function in the usual mode. At the same time it is necessary to correct a driving manner as appropriate. At the first opportunity the car should be driven away on car repair shop for diagnostics of system and elimination of a cause of defect.
