Information provided in this subsection belongs only to systems with the ignition distributor.

During service of the car it is not necessary to make verification of tension in places of electric connections by method of a zakorachivaniye of wires on weight. Do not disconnect VV the wire going from the ignition coil to the distributor at working, or turned by a starter, the engine. Do not disconnect the case of the electronic block from weight. Do not use the diagnostic units capable to cause short circuit in NV a coil contour. Handle with the electrical wiring connecting the distributor to the switchboard with care.


General information

Design features of the distributor and principle of functioning of regulators of ignition


The sensor distributor of ignition provides the necessary sequence of giving of impulses on spark plugs; develops tension impulses sent then in ECU and managing directors of interruption of current in primary winding of the coil of ignition.

The main making components of the distributor are: the generator of electric impulses, the scheme of division of tension in a secondary chain; centrifugal regulator and vacuum proofreader of an advancing of ignition.

The drive of the distributor is carried out from the gear wheel which is put on an axis being in gearing with a gear wheel of a bent shaft. Frequency of rotation of an axis of a driving gear wheel is twice lower than the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft.

The ignition distributor case from above is closed by a cover which fastening is carried out by means of two spring clamps. The flange of the case is intended for fixing of position of the distributor.

The cover is made of not conducting material maintaining high electric loadings equipped with five plugs concluded in nests of ledges of a cover. Wires of VV of a contour of system of ignition are connected to plugs.

VV a wire from the ignition coil is connected to the central plug of a cover of the distributor. The plug by means of the sprung coal contact is connected to the distributor runner.

The remained four candle plugs directly are connected to the brass contacts pressed from the inside of a cover.

Near one of plugs outside on covers of the distributor it is applied long vertical convex risk. VV a wire of a candle of the first cylinder is connected to this plug.

The shaft of the distributor is fixed in the distributor case by means of two self-greased plugs. The shaft is provided in the lower part of a shaft, and on top the plug into which the runner is inserted is installed. In the top end face of this plug there is a groove guaranteeing unambiguity of installation of the runner.

The runner is manufactured of dielectric material. From above in it two brass plates between which the resistor intended for suppression of radio-frequency hindrances is located are pressed. The plate established in the central part of the runner by means of a coal brush is connected to the central plug of a cover of the distributor. Thanks to such design, VV tension from the ignition coil via the noise suppressing resistor is brought to the second brass plate fixed on a nose of the runner and during the operation of the engine of the distributor cover which is serially contacting with candle plugs.

The magnetic-induction sensor (Hall's sensor) you consist of a 4-polsny rotor, a ring with polar cores and the induction coil. At rotation of a rotor power lines of magnetic field periodically are interrupted. Change of magnetic field leads to production of impulses in a winding of the induction coil. Further these impulses come to ECU operating passing of VV of tension via the ignition coil.

The centrifugal regulator corrects an ignition advancing corner depending on the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft regardless of the size of load of the engine. The principle of operation of the regulator is based on use of the centrifugal force influencing special counterbalances. The regulator consists of the plate which is not movably fixed on a shaft of the distributor to which priklepana two pins. On pins two counterbalances which are pulled together among themselves with springs are freely put. On the top part of a shaft of the distributor the plug which basis the plate with anchors forms for fastening of the opposite ends of springs and the pins entering grooves of counterbalances is fixed. On the plug the rotor of the induction sensor is put. The axial side play of assembly of the distributor is controlled by selection of a combination of expansion washers (washers are issued 0.05, 0.10 and 0.16 mm thick).

As the parameter of a rotor which is subject to check serves the size of its air gap (a) which should be exposed closer to the top limit of admissible range (see Specifications).

Counterbalances under the influence of centrifugal force disperse from increase of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft in the parties and, pressing pins of a mobile plate, cause turn of a rotor in a naprvleniye of rotation of a shaft of the distributor. Owing to such shift of a rotor generation of impulses in a winding of the coil of the induction sensor happens to a certain anticipation, i.e. ignition becomes earlier.

Characteristics of springs, the weight and a form of counterbalances are picked up so that to receive the values of size of an advancing of ignition set structurally depending on concrete turns of the engine. On an illustration performance data of the centrifugal regulator is presented.


The vacuum proofreader is intended for correction of a corner of an advancing of ignition depending on engine loading (without turns). The proofreader fastens to the distributor case by means of an arm and two M4 screws. In the internal camera of the vacuum proofreader the membrane diaphragm which is wrung out by a spring in the direction of the distributor case is placed. The diaphragm is connected by draft to polar tips of the induction sensor.

On the one hand the diaphragm is influenced by atmospheric pressure, with another the depression arising because the space in the case is connected by a hose to a final collector of the engine is brought. With increase in loading the butterfly valve is slightly opened more that leads to increase of depth of depression in the pipeline. Under the influence of pressure difference the diaphragm is curved towards the distributor case, overcoming at the same time spring resistance. The draft connecting a diaphragm to a plate on which the ring with polar tips is located forces the last to turn in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of a shaft of the distributor. At the same time the corner of an advancing of ignition is displaced forward and ignition becomes earlier. At decrease in loading depth of depression falls and the spring curves a diaphragm in the opposite direction, doing ignition to later. Performance data of the vacuum proofreader of an advancing of ignition is presented on an illustration.


Thanks to joint operation of both regulators necessary installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition at any turns and loadings of the engine is provided.

The distributor of ignition is connected to the switchboard a screened wire that the transferred impulses did not distort the characteristic of electromagnetic fields and did not cause thereby failures in operation of the switchboard.

The switchboard forms amplitude and duration of impulses of tension in the ignition coil.

The switchboard does not need regular service. It is only enough to care for reliable connection of the case with weight (it is controlled by reliability of tightening of the right lower screw of fastening of the case).

To protect tips of wires from the corrosion increasing resistance of contact connections on a surface of tips it is necessary to apply a thin film of acid-free vaseline, or to sprinkle them the special preserving structure. Access to contact plugs opens after removal of a rubber protective cover. Do not forget to establish at assembly a cover into place.

At repeated connection of tips of wires to contacts of the electronic block it is necessary to track correctness of their connection.


Control of elements of system of ignition should be begun with check of reliability of connection of the electric socket to the ignition switchboard. Besides, it is necessary to check reliability of grounding of the case of the switchboard.

For check of giving of food on system of ignition include ignition, without starting the engine, and by means of the voltmeter or a lamp sampler make sure available tension on the plug 15 of the switchboard and the plug 15 of the coil of ignition. For check of tension on the plug 15 of the switchboard it is necessary to disconnect the socket from the block. If check is made by means of the voltmeter, it is possible to check also tension size on the plug of 1 coil. The result should not be less instrument, read on the plug 15 more than for 0.3 Century. Otherwise it is necessary to check resistance of primary winding of the coil (the nominal rate makes 0.6 Ohms).


If tension on plugs 15 is absent, it can be brought in the emergency way, having connected the plug a crossing point to a positive pole of the battery.

Checks should be made quickly as the heating spiral in the device of automatic equipment of start of the carburetor at the same time joins, edges can easily fuse.

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Bring the engine into the provision of VMT.
3. In case of need disconnect wire VV from a distributor cover (do not forget them to mark previously)

It is preferable to uncover with the wires connected to it. It is better to transfer wires to a new cover in order to avoid violation of an order of ignition serially.


Bosch Mono-Motronic system

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Release fixing clamps, uncover with the distributor and take her aside together with the wires connected by VV.
2. Mark the provision of the basis of assembly of the distributor in relation to the engine block.
3. Removal and installation of the distributor can be made by one of two ways: or assembled with a lengthening pipe, or separately from it. Preference should be given to the last way.
4. For removal of the distributor assembled with a lengthening pipe give two bolts of fastening of the last to a forward cover of the engine. Now assembly can be removed.
5. At an exit of the leading gear wheel of a shaft of the distributor from gearing with a spiral driving gear wheel of the camshaft the runner will inevitably turn. At once put a tag of final position of the runner that at installation assembly could be returned strictly in initial situation.

6. For a distributor detachment from a lengthening pipe mark the mutual provision of components, then weaken a nut of a coupling bolt and dismember assembly.

7. Try not to turn its shaft and a bent shaft of the engine at the removed distributor.

8. Take from a flute in the distributor case a sealing ring.

At assembly the sealing ring is subject replacements without fail.


Magneti-Marelli 1AV system

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the grounding tire from the metal shielding cover.

2. Disunite the electric socket of the sensor of Hall on the distributor case.

3. Release spring clamps...

... uncover and take her aside together with the wires connected by VV.

4. Make sure that the runner will be deployed a nose to the VV plug of a wire of a candle of the first cylinder on a distributor cover (the corresponding tag has to be applied on a rim of the case of the distributor).

5. With Chertilka or a marker mark position of the case of the distributor in relation to a basic flange.

6. Turn out clamping bolts, then take the distributor case from a head of cylinders. It is not excluded that for release of a big sealing ring the case of the distributor should be shaken slightly here and there.

7. Remove a sealing ring from the lower end face of the case of the distributor and attentively examine it. The worn-out or damaged ring is subject to replacement.

INSTALLATION

Bosch Mono-Motronic system

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the engine still is in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the first cylinder. Correct the provision of a shaft of the distributor so that the runner was deployed by a nose to a tag on a face part of a rim of the case of the distributor. If the lengthening tube remained on the engine, track that the driving doggie got to a groove on lengthening to a shaft. At installation of the distributor assembled with a lengthening tube deploy the runner in the situation noted at assembly removal.

2. Having achieved combination of tags, install the distributor on the regular place. In case of need slightly correct position of the runner for the purpose of introduction to gearings of a driving doggie or teeth of gear wheels.
3. Establish into place a distributor cover (track correctness of its orientation on the case). In case of need connect VV candle wires. Remember that correct functioning of the engine is possible only at observance of a certain order of ignition (1-3-4-2).
4. Connect to the central plug of a cover the main VV going from the ignition coil a wire.
5. At accurate installation of the new distributor installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition should not be strongly broken. Nevertheless, for a guarantee the car will be reasonable to be driven away on car repair shop where correctness of installation of the moment of ignition will be checked with use of the corresponding special equipment.


Magneti-Marelli 1AV system


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the engine still is in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the first cylinder. Install the distributor, having entered a driving doggie into a reception opening in a driving flange of the camshaft and having freely screwed clamping bolts. The runner has to is deployed by a nose towards a tag of position of the VV plug of a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder on a cover - on a rim of the case is put corresponding risk.

2. Establish into place a distributor cover. Track reliability of a zashchelkivaniye of spring clamps.
3. Connect an electrical wiring of the sensor of Hall.
4. Connect the grounding tire.
5. Serially connect candle wires of candles to VV cover plugs. You remember need of observance of the required order of ignition (1-3-4-2).
6. Connect to the central plug of a cover of the distributor the main VV the wire going from the ignition coil.
7. At accurate installation of the new distributor installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition should not be strongly broken. Nevertheless, for a guarantee the car will be reasonable to be driven away on car repair shop where correctness of installation of the moment of ignition will be checked with use of the corresponding special equipment.
