The air conditioning system (K/V) is included in the additional package of models of the class LXi and GLXi of petrol models 1.3 and 1.6 of l. The complete set the K/V system of the models equipped with the diesel engine is not represented possible. The function chart of the conditioner of air is submitted on illustrations. Components of the K/V system are manufactured in the Czech Republic, Germany and Japan.

The system allows to reduce temperature and humidity of the air given to salon that considerably increases comfort of stay in the car of the driver and passengers.

Structurally the K/V evaporator is combined with the case of a heater which back part and gates of airdistribution remain in an invariable look. In a forward part of a casing the evaporator with own fan is installed.

The household refrigerator works in the cooling mode To/in by the same principle, as. Gaseous coolant is soaked up in the compressor put in action by the belt drive and comes to the condenser installed before a radiator where gives the heat, passing into a liquid phase. Further, liquid coolant via the broad valve comes to the evaporator where from the liquid which is under high pressure turns into the rarefied gas. This phase transition is followed by sharp temperature drop and, respectively, cooling of the evaporator. Then coolant comes back to the compressor and the cycle is repeated.

The air blown via the evaporator is cooled and comes to assembly of a heater where by mixing with the hot air arriving from the heat exchanger of the last it is given temperature set at the choice of the operator. The received mix of the required characteristics (temperature and humidity) moves in interior of the car.

In case of need heating of air in salon the system works as a usual heater at models of a basic equipment (see the Section System of Heating/ventilation of Salon - the general information).

The compressor is installed in the left forward corner of a motive compartment, its drive is carried out by the multicostal auxiliary belt which is at the same time putting in action and the generator. Adjustment of effort of a tension of a belt is made due to change of position of the generator.

Makes compressors the Sanden company appropriating them the designation SD7H13. The maximum frequency of rotation of the compressor makes 7000 rpm. Connection of a power shaft with shaft of the compressor is carried out by means of the electromagnetic coupling smoothing breakthroughs at turning on of the device and providing stability of functioning of the generator and smoothness of change of load of the engine.

The volume of the compressor makes 129.2 cm 3. The compressor crêpe on the engine is carried out by means of four bolts.

The K/V condenser is installed before an engine cooling system radiator. Power consumption of the fan of a radiator makes 250 W. The thermosensitive relay obtaining information from temperature sensor in the thermostat makes shutdown of the compressor on reaching temperature of cooling liquid of value of 114 °C.

The K/V control panel is equipped with two switches: inclusions/switching off of system and regulation of air temperature.

In case of violation of functioning of system it is necessary to address in a specialized workshop or company service center of the Skoda company.

Precautionary measures

At service of any components of a refrigerator path of the air conditioning system it is necessary to observe special precautionary measures. The same concerns the procedures connected with need of a rassoyedineniye of lines of a refrigerator path.

As a working body in the air conditioning system of the car liquid coolant (freon) is used. Freon as chemical, is potentially dangerous, and therefore, only the qualified specialist can be allowed to the treatment of him. Hit of coolant in contact with open sites of skin can cause their deep frostbite. Freon in itself is not poisonous, however at contact with naked flame forms highly toxic gas therefore, inhalation of gaseous freon through the lit cigarette can lead to the most sad consequences. Besides, hit of freon in the atmosphere causes significant damage to the environment in view of irreversible destruction of an ozone layer.

If there are suspicions on decrease in level of coolant of the air conditioning system, it is necessary to stop its further use as it is fraught with failure of the compressor.

Any detachment of components and refrigerator lines of the cooling system should be charged to experts.
