Power supply system of the carburetor engine of 1.3 l

General information and precautionary measures

The carburetor power supply system carries out configuration of air-fuel mix and its giving in engine combustion chambers. The main components of a power supply system are the fuel tank, a gasoline pump, the carburetor, the inlet pipeline, connecting fuel lines and the air cleaner.

The gasoline pump carries out supply of fuel from the fuel tank in the carburetor. On the considered models the non-demountable gasoline pump like Jikov SH 3460 is used, in the carburetor the lever of manual pumping of fuel is not provided.

In the carburetor configuration of air-fuel mix and its dispensing according to the current requirements of the engine is carried out. The models of cars considered in the present manual are completed with the two-diffusive, two-chamber carburetor with the falling stream of the German production Pierburg performed by 2E3, or its license option, are released in the Czech Republic and having the designation Jikov 28-30 LEKR. Opening of a butterfly valve of the second camera in such carburetors happens by means of the pneumatic drive. The principle of operation of the carburetor is stated below in appropriate section of the present Chapter.

The air which is soaked up in the carburetor passes previously through the air cleaner made of dense paper the filtering element of which prevents hit in the engine contained in air of dust, moisture and other pollution. The case and a cover of the air cleaner are manufactured of plastic. The inlet air duct of the case by means of a rubber sleeve is connected to the air inlet located under the right head block headlight. The sleeve of supply of the warmed-up air from the casing placed over a final collector is connected to a branch pipe from the lower party of an air duct. In an air duct, near the case of the air cleaner the thermostat which problem includes adjustment of temperature of the air which is soaked up in the carburetor is placed. The thermostat is adjusted on 20 ÷ 30 °C and operates position of the air gate which is appropriately dosing supply of the warmed-up and cold air.

Precautionary measures

Gasoline is flammable liquid in the highest measure. When performing service of components of a power supply system it is necessary to observe special precautionary measures!

Do not smoke and do not approach the venue of works with a source of an open flame / the carrying unprotected by the lamp shade! You do not make service of components of a power supply system in the rooms equipped with the heating devices using natural gas and equipped with a control torch. You watch that near at hand constantly there was a charged fire extinguisher.

Avoid hit of fuel in eyes and on open sites of skin. Put on protective gloves and glasses. Wash away incidentally got splashes water with soap.

Remember that fuel evaporations not less if no more, are dangerous, than actually liquid fuel. Do not forget that the emptied container from under gasoline continues to contain the fuel vapors which are not only easily flammable, but also potentially explosive!

Many of the procedures described in this Chapter are connected with need of a detachment of fuel lines, inevitably leading to fuel pouring. Try to prepare beforehand all necessary materials for collecting the spilled fuel.

Carrying out service of components of a power supply system pay special attention to respect for purity - hit to the fuel highway of dirt is capable to lead to violation of its passability leading to interruptions in operation of the engine and even to its spontaneous stops.

For the benefit of personal security of the performer and for safety of the equipment many of the procedures described in the present Chapter have to be made only after a detachment from the battery of a negative wire. Such precautionary measure allows to avoid risk of short circuit.
