2. Clamp a power shaft in a vice with soft sponges and release bandage tapes of fastening of a protective cover of the external CV JOINT.
In case of need bandage tapes can be cut simply off. |
3. Turn off a cover so that access to the hinge opened. Remove excess of lubricant.
4. Sharp blows of the hammer through a drift by an internal part of the hinge bring down the last from a shaft. The hinge is fixed on a shaft by a lock ring. At assembly knocking down in the described way the ring gets to specially provided flute on a shaft that allows to remove the CV JOINT freely. |
5. Having removed the hinge, take a lock ring from the flute and you will throw out it - at assembly the ring is subject to replacement without fail. 6. Remove a rubber protective cover of the CV JOINT from a shaft. 7. Carefully wash out the removed hinge kerosene or other suitable solvent. Make visual check of a condition of internal components of assembly. 8. Moving an internal part of the hinge, serially examine each of balls in their top situation. Pay attention to cracks, flattening and cavities. 9. Check guides in internal and external holders of assembly for existence of the developed sites where density of landing of balls is broken. At the same time check a condition of a separator - existence of cracks between windows is inadmissible. 10. The worn-out or damaged hinge is subject to replacement. If the CV JOINT is recognized suitable for further use, prepare a new protective cover, bandage tapes, a lock ring and lubricant for stuffing of the CV JOINT (see Specifications).
11. Wind pin vents with an adhesive tape and accurately put on a new protective cover of the CV JOINT a shaft. Try not to allow shifts of the plastic plugs installed in its internal sponges in the course of putting on of a cover. |
12. Remove an adhesive tape and put a new lock ring on a shaft. Track correctness of landing of a ring in a flute on a shaft. |
13. Fill the hinge fresh lubricant. Hammer the lubricant which remained in packing into a cover. |
14. Get the CV JOINT on a pin of a shaft and get its edge from above on a lock ring. Sharp blows of the hammer with soft brisk by an external part of the hinge, put the last on a shaft. Having pulled assembly, make sure of reliability of its fixing on a shaft a lock ring. |
15. Put external sponges of a cover in a flute on assembly of the CV JOINT, fix internal sponges on a shaft fillet. Having raised an inner edge of a cover, let out from under it the air. 16. Make sure of correctness of landing of a cover, then fix it by bandage tapes.
Bandage tapes of two types are issued. |
17. Most often for fastening of protective covers of CV JOINTS the bandage tapes which are simply wrapped around a cover and fixed by tightening of speakers of sections are used. In lack of the special tool tightening of clamps of a bandage can be made by means of flat-nose pliers or bokorez (act extremely carefully incidentally not to have a bite a tape).
18. Bandage tapes in the form of the metal strips equipped from one of the ends with a pryazhechny bracket are less widespread. After a reversing around a cover the free end of a tape is passed through a groove in a buckle. Correctly having placed a tape on a cover, arm with the special hook made of a welding electrode and flat-nose pliers. Having densely fitted a tape a cover, unbend its free end back and throw it through a buckle. Bokorezami you obkusit surplus of a tape behind a buckle, then densely press the remained "tail" down. |
19. Make sure of reliability of fixing of a cover, then check freedom of rotation of the hinge in all directions. Now the shaft can be installed on the car (see the Section Removal and installation of power shafts). |
