Structure and design

The carburetor is intended for preparation of air-fuel mix and its dosed giving in combustion chambers depending on the current loading and turns of the engine.

The Pierburg 2E3/Jikov 28-30 LEKR carburetor used for a complete set of the considered car models is equipped with the semi-automatic system of start providing reliable start of the engine in all temperature conditions, typical for a midland, and also allows to begin the movement right after cold start. Are among the factors defining the mode of functioning of semi-automatic equipment of start:

a) Air temperature;
b) Temperature of cooling liquid of the engine;
c) Depression depth in the inlet pipeline.

After start of the engine impoverishment of mix is made in two stages at correct functioning of system start is made with the first, at most from the second attempt even in frosty weather at the air temperature of -20 °C.

The design of the carburetor is presented on illustrations. The following devices are among the main components of the carburetor:

a) Semi-automatic starting arrangement;
b) The system of idling providing stability of turns of idling of the engine (800 ÷ 850 in a minute);
c) The transitional system of the camera I providing smooth increase in turns of the engine when opening a butterfly valve of II;
d) System of enrichment of air-fuel mix (ekonostaty) at full loading;
e) The accelerating pump of membrane type with the mechanical drive;
f) The electromagnetic locking valve blocking supply of fuel in the carburetor after switching off of ignition and also at operation of the economizer of compulsory idling (EPH);
g) The float-operated camera supporting the set fuel level in the carburetor.

Under the needle valve of the float-operated camera the filtering element which grid makes thin purification of the fuel given to the carburetor settles down.

In the needle valve there is a small spring on which the ball which is partially coming out leans. being deformed, the spring damps breakthroughs of the lever of a float at the bystry movement of the car. Thanks to such adjustment fuel level in the float-operated camera is supported to constants.

The needle of the valve is covered by the high-strength structure of Viton differing in special durability. Thanks to such covering high tightness of landing of knot is provided. The needle valve is calculated approximately on 150 000 km of a run and does not need additional regular service.

When lowering level of fuel in the camera the float falls down and slightly opens the needle valve. At the same time in the camera the necessary additional amount of fuel is pumped up. Increase in amount of fuel leads to raising of a float and automatic closing of the valve.

The carburetor is equipped with also additional mesh filter. The filtering assembly is established on an entrance to the float-operated camera and equipped with the ball valve which allows to make removal of excess fuel from the carburetor back in the fuel tank. Besides via the valve fuel evaporations at switching off of the hot engine are taken away. Existence of the valve also allows to avoid hit of vapors of fuel in the carburetor at the working engine in hot weather that leads to violation of stability of turns of the last.

The carburetor fastens to the inlet pipeline three bolts of M6x20 through the rubber-metal sealing laying which is reliably pressurizing a joint. Laying fastens on the inlet pipeline four bolts with heads under a prutkovy key hexagon.

Management of the provision of a butterfly valve

The pedal of management of the provision of a butterfly valve of the camera I (accelerator pedal) together with pedals of a brake and coupling is fixed on an arm of pedals in a driver's foot well. The pedal is connected to a butterfly valve a steel cable with a diameter of 1.6 mm and 750 mm long, put in a flexible cover. For the purpose of friction reduction the cable cover has a synthetic covering from within. Near the carburetor the tip of a cable is filled in a clamp on the lever of the drive of a butterfly valve. The way of fastening of a cover of a cable to the arm fixed on the case of the carburetor allows to regulate a gap in the mechanism of the drive of a butterfly valve. To a pedal the cable fastens by means of a plastic tip.

The course of the accelerator pedal is limited by the emphasis screwed on a floor of salon.

Service

The following is among procedures of service of the carburetor:

a) Check and adjustment of turns of idling;
b) Check and adjustment of content of monoxide of carbon (SO) in the fulfilled engine gases;
c) Check and adjustment of a gap in the mechanism of the drive of a butterfly valve;
d) Replacement of the mesh filter located in an inlet branch pipe of the carburetor.
e) Adjustment of turns of bystry idling

The listed operations, except for the last, should be made during guarantee maintenance of the car, and then through 10 000, 30 000, 50 000 km of a run, and further through each 20 000 km. Replacement of the mesh filter is made through 50 000 km of a run.

Check and adjustment of turns of idling


During adjustment the following conditions have to be satisfied:

a) The engine has to be in good repair;
b) Engine oil has to be recently replaced;
c) The engine has to be heated-up approximately up to the temperature of 70 °C (the arrow of the index is on the middle of a scale);
d) The corner of an advancing of ignition has to make 0 ° ÷ 2 °;
e) Should not take place of violations of tightness of landing of the carburetor on the inlet pipeline and the pipeline on a head of cylinders;
f) Spark plugs have to be tightened with the required effort;
g) The new filtering air cleaner element has to be established (except the first guarantee survey);
h) In system of the drive of a butterfly valve there should not be breaks of a cable and other malfunctions;
i) All consumers of the electric power (except system of ignition) have to be switched off;
j) The ventilating hose connecting a head of cylinders to the air cleaner has to be pressed;
k) The system of enrichment of air-fuel mix has to be disconnected - the screw (3) should not rest against a step pulley;
l) The thermostat of the air cleaner has to be serviceable.

Check is made by means of a tachometer. If the result of measurement of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft exceeds the limit of admissible range (see Specifications), it is necessary to make the corresponding adjustment by rotation of the adjusting screw (1).

Check and adjustment of contents WITH in the fulfilled gases


On the international standards the car power supply system design throughout 80 000 km of a run should not allow excesses of admissible level of content in the fulfilled gases of the engine of toxic substances.

Proceeding from told, it is not necessary self-willedally, to rotate the screw of adjustment of quality of mix for the purpose of improvement of indicators of the engine. If as a result of check it becomes clear that contents level WITH in the fulfilled gases exceeds 0.5 ÷ 1.5%, then only in this case it is necessary to make the corresponding adjustment by rotation of the stipulated screw.


The gas analyzer is necessary for conducting this check. During check all listed above conditions have to be satisfied. In addition, it is necessary to make sure of tightness of a path of final system.

Check and adjustment of a gap in the mechanism of the drive of a butterfly valve


Manually turn a rychazhok of the automatic starting arrangement clockwise and record it in this situation a rubber bandage. At identification of an excessive side play of the drive of a butterfly valve (in the first phase of squeezing of a pedal turns of the engine do not increase), it is necessary to take a clamp and to move a cable cover in the holder so that the size of a free wheeling made 0.3 ÷ 2.3 mm. Do not forget to latch into place a clamp.

Replacement of the mesh filter

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Replacement of the mesh filter is made through each 50 000 km of a run. The filter is in an inlet branch pipe of the carburetor.

2. Weaken a collar of fastening of a hose of supply of fuel.

3. Screw the Ø screw of 3 mm in a branch pipe (will be to wrap the screw on 5 mm enough).

4. Having pulled for a screw head, take the filter from a branch pipe.

5. Fill the new filter in a branch pipe, then connect a hose of a fuel pipe and fix it by a collar.


Check of level of fuel in the float-operated camera

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The wrong installation of level of fuel in the float-operated camera of the carburetor can be one of causes of infringement of stability of turns of the engine.
2. Remove the air cleaner (see the Section Service of Assembly of the Air Cleaner).
3. Turn out screws (with crosswise vents) fastenings of a cover of the carburetor to its case.

4. Make sure that fuel level is in the float-operated camera 8.5 ÷ 10.5 mm below the interfaced surface of the case of the carburetor.

5. If level differs from the stipulated value, turn a carburetor cover so that it adopted the provision shown on an illustration and measure distance between the bottom of a float and the plane of a cover (the nominal rate makes 28 ÷ 30 mm).

During measurement the ball of the needle valve should not be wrung out by a float shoulder.

6. The possibility of correction of the provision of a float is not provided and any its changes can be connected only with violation of tightness of assembly.
7. At installation of a cover of the carburetor do not forget to replace sealing laying with the case.


Adjustment of turns of bystry idling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Wait for full cooling of the engine.

2. Transfer the adjusting screw to the second highest step of a step pulley.
