Service of assembly of the air cleaner

The case of the air cleaner fastens to a carburetor cover three nuts of M5. Tightness of connection is provided with sealing laying which nestles a metal slip. The same slip the air cleaner case nestles. In addition the case fastens a nut of M6, navorachivayemy on the bolt welded on the arm fixed on a head of cylinders.

From above the case of the air cleaner is closed by a cover which fastens four nuts of M4, navorachivayemy on the bolts fixed in the case, and six spring clamps pressing edges of a cover to the case.

The filtering element is made of the microporous paper put by an accordion for the purpose of development of useful area. At manufacturer the air cleaner is completed with the filtering element of production of the Sandrik company (type of an element 95 015 0173 01). From above and from below the element is covered with the plastic guards of the corresponding form providing tightness of its landing in the air cleaner case. Extent of purification of air with such filter reaches 99.9%.

Service

Service of the air cleaner consists in periodic cleaning (through each 10 000 km of a run) and replacement (through each 20 000 km) the filtering element. At operation of the car in the conditions of the increased dust content or impurity of the atmosphere intervals of service should be cut by half.

On each liter of the burned fuel the engine needs about 10 ÷ of 12 l of air. The air consumption necessary for production by the engine of power about 1 kW makes 80 l/min. Thus, the condition of the air which is soaked up in the engine becomes particularly important.

Level of impurity of air depends on remoteness from industrial facilities, a condition of a paving, weather conditions and tension of traffic. Even at movement of the car along the highway to high speed and on considerable removal from settlements there is an intensive pollution of the air filter in view of hit, for example, of the particles of rubber accumulating on the road as a result of attrition of protectors of tires.

The conducted operational researches show that at operation of cars on roads without hard coating, and also in large settlements where extent of air pollution is very high, cleaning of the filtering element of the air cleaner should be carried out through each 2000 km of a run, and its replacement - through each 7 ÷ 8 thousand km.

Pollution of the air filter leads to decrease in the power developed by the engine, fuel consumption growth (up to 15%), substantial increase of content in the fulfilled gases of toxic components, and also fluidifying of engine oil not burned down fuel.

Violation of tightness of landing of the air cleaner, decrease in efficiency of its functioning (usually as a result of application of low-standard working elements), can become the reason of premature wear of the engine. Operation of the car without air filter is not admissible at all.

The clearing of the filtering element is made as follows:

a) Give a key on 10 mm four nuts of M6 of fastening of a cover of the air cleaner;
b) Release six spring clamps located on perimeter, uncover and take the filtering element from the case;
c) Blow the removed working element compressed air in the direction from the center outside (it is possible to use also ordinary vacuum cleaner, soaking up air on external perimeter of an element);
d) Carefully wipe the internal surface of the case of the air cleaner, having removed the accumulated dust and mud deposits - take precautionary measures against hit of dirt in an air mouth of the carburetor (a zakuporta its rags);
e) At installation of a cover of the air cleaner track that the tag put on it was located opposite to an entrance branch pipe of the air cleaner.

When replacing of the filtering element it is necessary to work also as well as at its removal for cleaning (see the previous paragraph).

Removal of assembly of the air cleaner is made in the following order:

a) Uncover the air cleaner and take the filtering element;
b) Give a nut of M6 of fastening of assembly of the case to an arm on a head of cylinders;
c) Give three nuts of M5 of fastening of the case of the air cleaner to the carburetor (try that they did not fall in an air mouth of the last).

One of nuts (that that it is located ahead of the others [on the car]) is put closely to a carburetor jet opening;

d) Remove a metal slip;
e) Weaken a bolt of a collar of fastening of a rubber sleeve on the end of an inlet air duct of the case of the air cleaner;
f) Raise the air cleaner case up and remove it from a landing flange of the carburetor;
g) Disconnect the end of a sleeve of a supply of the warmed-up air. Remove a sleeve together with a small knee in which it is fixed from a ledge on an inlet branch pipe of the air cleaner;

At installation of the air cleaner into place track that the ledge on a metal slip entered reciprocal deepening of the laying established between the case and the carburetor.

Access to the thermostat located in the air cleaner opens after removal of a cover of the last. From time to time it is necessary to check serviceability of functioning of the thermostat (i.e. operations of its valve at a bang lower than 20 ÷ of 25 °C and higher than 25 ÷ of 35 °C.

It is the simplest to make check of serviceability of functioning of the thermostat of the air cleaner by means of the ordinary hair dryer for drying of hair. Direct a stream of warm air to the thermostat and make sure that it causes movement of a diaphragm.

Be careful! The excessive overheat of the thermostat can lead to an exit it out of operation!

The diaphragm of the damaged thermostat will remain motionless. If such malfunction takes place, there is an essential increase in fuel consumption.

For more detailed check of a condition of the thermostat prepare the deep container with water with the temperature of 30 ÷ of 35 °C. Further act as follows:

a) Ship the air cleaner case in water in vertical position so that the inlet branch pipe was directed up. At the maximum deepening water level has to reach edge of an opening of an admission of warm air (the cut has to be no more than on 1 ÷ 2 cm above water level);
b) A minute later make sure that the diaphragm reached the position corresponding to an overshoot of supply of the warmed-up air;
c) Make sure that in process of water cooling the thermostat provides gradual opening of an air duct of a supply of warm air and blocks a supply of cold. For simplicity the thermostat should be suspended by means of a wire or a piece of a string. The minimum temperature of operation of a diaphragm makes 20 °C (you hold near at hand the thermometer). At bystry decrease in water temperature transition of a diaphragm from one positions in another has to hold no more than a minute. Otherwise excessive pollution of assembly which should try to be eliminated takes place.
