Towage of the trailer

Preparation for the movement

In spite of the fact that any car is intended mainly for transportation of people and hand luggage, at use of the corresponding technical equipment there is an opportunity to make towage of the trailer.
It is not necessary to overload the trailer over admissible value at all (see Specifications).

The maximum admissible values of mass of the trailer given in Specifications are fair only for the areas located at the height no more than 1000 m above sea level. In view of the fact that increase of height of the area efficiency of return of the engine gradually decreases owing to an air sparseness, value of the maximum admissible workshop of car service of the trailer should be lowered by 10% on everyone following 1000 m of rise, starting with the first.


It is not necessary to exceed also maximum permissible vertical load on a spherical head of the traction coupling device - you watch correctness of distribution of freight in the trailer, placing the heaviest objects whenever possible over a bridge axis. Take care of reliability of fixing of freight.

Do not forget to modify pressure in tires of the car trailer prepared for towage, having lifted it to the value corresponding to the maximum loads. Check also pressure of a rating of tires of the trailer.

Having finished loading of the trailer, check adequacy of an inclination of an optical axis of head headlights, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment.
During performance of a hitch and uncoupling the parking brake of the car has to be completely cocked.

Recommendations about driving

For preservation of the maximum control over controllability of the car towing the trailer try to distribute whenever possible evenly freight lump on the trailer and the car. Avoid towages of the heavy trailer the empty car. If it is not possible to avoid such situation, do not exceed the safe speed of the movement.

Because course stability of an automatic coupling with increase in speed of the movement decreases, avoid unfairly bystry driving, in particular at the movement in adverse road or weather conditions. Try to move with a speed which is not exceeding value of 80 km/h even if it is not stipulated by the traffic regulations accepted in this region.

Beforehand begin braking! If the trailer is equipped with the inertial brake system, it is better to make braking in two stages and very smoothly that will help to avoid the breakthroughs connected with blocking of wheels of the trailer.

At the movement under a bias beforehand include a low gear, fully using braking by the engine.

Need of commission of the steep slope forces to include a low gear in hot weather and as much as possible to raise engine turns. Moving in such mode, you watch closely indications of the measuring instrument of temperature of cooling liquid. If the arrow of the index comes into the red range of a scale of the measuring instrument, the car it is necessary to stop and allow to the engine to cool down within several minutes on single turns. Remember that the speed of rotation of the fan of the cooling system does not depend in any way on the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft therefore excessive decrease in transfer with increase in turns of the engine will bring only to a bystry overheat of the last.

At frequent use of the vehicle try to make procedures of routine maintenance of the car for towage of the trailer a little more often than it is stipulated by the Schedule (see the Head Routine maintenance).
