Power supply system of the diesel engine

General information and precautionary measures

The power supply system consists of the fuel tank, the fuel pump of high pressure (FPHP) installed in a motive compartment of the fuel filter with the moisture separator which is built in it, lines of giving and return of fuel and nozzles of injection.

TNVD is put in action by a gas-distributing belt and rotates twice more slowly than a bent shaft. Diesel fuel is sucked in by the pump from a tank and passed via the fuel filter. Further it under very high pressure moves on individual lines to nozzles.

Nozzles represent the sprung mechanical valves opening at excess by pressure of the fuel of some preset value given on them. When opening valves fuel through forsunochny nozzles is injected into vortex cameras (system of indirect injection). Let's notice that a design of nozzles such is that in process of increase in pressure valves open in two stages that allows to achieve the most effective combustion of mix.
Basic installation of phases of injection is defined by the provision of TNVD on its basic arm. Correction (a delay or an advancing) of phases at the working engine is made actually by the pump mechanically, depending on position of the accelerator pedal and turns of the engine.

The stop of the engine is made by means of the locking electromagnetic valve which, working, blocks supply of fuel in TNVD. On the majority of models this valve is switched on in a chain of anticreeping system. Until the immobilizator is disconnected, start of the engine is not possible.

At cold start turns of idling of the engine raise by means of the device of automatic increase in turns of the idling established on TNVD wall.

The engine is equipped also with the control unit controlling functioning of candles of an incandescence and recirculation of the fulfilled gases (EGR). The block is located near the relay of candles of an incandescence in the left back corner of a motive compartment. Information on the current load of a distance is delivered in the control unit of the potentiometer fixed on the lever of the drive of a butterfly valve. The valve of the beginning of injection installed to TNVD transfers information on fuel supply phases to the control unit.

The knot of self-diagnostics of refusals of TNVD is a part of the control unit. The diagnostic socket is located under the dashboard on the right. Reading of information which is written down in memory of the block is possible only by means of the special equipment and has to be made by specialists of car service. The description of procedures of removal/installation of the pump for the purpose of elimination of the reasons of the established malfunctions is provided in the Head's materials.

Precautionary measures

Diesel fuel is flammable liquid in the highest measure. When performing service of components of a power supply system it is necessary to observe special precautionary measures!

Do not smoke and do not approach the venue of works with a source of an open flame / the carrying unprotected by the lamp shade! You do not make service of components of a power supply system in the rooms equipped with the heating devices using natural gas and equipped with a control torch. You watch that near at hand constantly there was a charged fire extinguisher.

Avoid hit of fuel in eyes and on open sites of skin. Put on protective gloves and glasses. Wash away incidentally got splashes water with soap.

Remember that fuel evaporations not less if no more, are dangerous, than actually liquid fuel. Perform all works in well ventilated room.

Many of the procedures described in this Chapter are connected with need of a detachment of fuel lines, inevitably leading to fuel pouring. Try to prepare beforehand all necessary materials for collecting the spilled fuel.

Remember that pressure of operation of nozzles is very high and hit of a stream from a nozzle on open parts of the body can lead to receiving serious injuries. Authors of the present manual recommend to charge performance of all carried out under pressure of checks of system to qualified specialists of car service.

Do not allow hit of diesel fuel on hoses of a cooling path at all, immediately remove casual splashes pure rags. The hoses polluted by fuel are subject to replacement.

The power supply system of the diesel engine is especially sensitive to different pollution. At service of components of system try to watch purity of components and not to allow hit in a path of dirt. Before connection of hoses carefully wipe unions. Put the removed components in pure capacities. For rubbing of details use only неворсящуюся rags. Try not to apply compressed air to a purge of components of a power supply system of in situ.
